Elizabeth Dubois was convicted at CCC, London on 19 Aug 1844 for stealing lace from shop. Previous offences. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Tory' arriving 4 July 1845. Ship surgeon's report: quiet and industrious. Married woman - husband Thomas. 1 child (record does not state if child accompanied her) Previous name: Elizabeth Harris (?)(see indent for transcription of writing) Native place: Shoreditch, London Mother: Elizabeth Wood Sisters: Sarah, Eliza, Mary & Hannah Brother: James Aged 26yrs; Church of England; read & write; married; 4'11 1/2"; sallow complexion; black hair; dk Hazel eyes Assignments in Colony. Ticket of Leave 20/03/1850 Married George James Wicks at Launceston, Tasmania on 15/07/1850 (ref. 747/1850-37). Permission to marry granted (husband George is listed as "free" but he may have served his time as a convict). Free Certificate 10/10/1857
