In May 1850 at the High Court of Justiciary, Mary Dunsmure, Mary Ann Simpsonm Mary O'Harra and Margaret Brannigan (all aged about 20 years) were convicted - overnight 10/11 January 1850 having attacked and assaulted an (unnamed) individual in a house in Leith Wynd and rob him of a watch, silver chain and handkerchief. Each accused received transportation for 10 years - see Scotsman newspaper 18 May 1850 p 3 on 'High Court of Justiciary'. Note: There is no trace on Convict Records of Margaret Brannigan having been transported. See also McGowan, John (2022) Policing the Metropolis of Scotland, 1833-1861 (Edinburgh City Archives) Volume 1, p 1363.
