19/3/1833 South Eastern Gazette Kent, England: RICHARD EDWARDS, 18 ; HENRY BARKER, 24 ; and HENRY STEEBE, 20, indicted for assaulting Mary Westbrook, at St. Paul's, Deptford, and taking from her between 18s and 19s. .....The prisoners in their defence, stated that the young woman dropped the glove__that they picked it up, and found it to contain only 5s 2d. The three had been convicted of felony.__Death recorded. Richard Edwards was listed as 19 years old on arrival in VDL - he was born at Deptford. Richard was 5'3" tall, fair complexio n, brown hair, dark grey eyes, slightly pockpitted, single, E.C. on left are R.E.J.C on right arm, Pot glass pipe hearts and darts on same arm. 6/1/1843: TOL 15/1/1846: CP Founders and Survivors website list this marriage as the above Richard Edwards - however no proof found:- 20/5/1846: Married Mary Ann Smith, aged 24 - Richard was 30, a sawyer - at Glenorchy. 6/10/1846: Tried Hobart QS - Richard Edwards convicted of assaulting, on the 1st day of September last, Mary Ann Edwards (his wife). To be imprisoned in Her Majesty's Gaol at Hobart Town, and kept to hard labor, for two years at H.M. Gaol. 20/8/1852: Steerage passenger, Launceston to Melbourne per 'Yarra Yarra' - Free by Servitude - ship to colony: Southworth.
