The Royal Admiral was built at Lynn in 1828. Convicts were transported to New South Wales on the Royal Admiral in 1830, 1833, 1835 and to Van Diemen's Land in 1842. 1833 - Ship; Royal Admiral. Commenced fitting as a Convict Transport at Deptford on the 29 March. Surgeon Superintendent [Andrew Henderson] joined on the 3rd April. Guard embarked on the 13th. Sailed on the 17th and anchored in Kingston Barbour near Dublin on the 9th May. 220 convicts embarked on the 16 May 1833 and the ship sailed from Dublin Bay for Sydney on the 4th June and arrived there on the 20 October. Originally embarked with 221 convicts, 5 Died at sea, 1 was Relanded. 11 sick on shore, The convicts were described as 220 such wretchedly debilitated creatures ... Thomas was a native of Birmingham, Warwickshire, England and born around 1810, baptized at St Martins, Birmingham on the 22nd May 1812, son of James and Catherine Elvins. He Married an Ester Stephens at St Martins on the 15th July 1827 on the 28th October the same year had their daughter Ann was baptized there. On the 27th March 1830 at Warick Assizes, Thomas was convicted of housebreaking and sentenced to life transportation. His Convict Indent states that he was in the Steel Toy Trade, was able to read, height 5 foot 4 3/4 inches, completion ruddy freckled, hair brown and eyes hazel. In addition he had several distinguishing marks, those being ; a large scar on the outer part of the right eye, a blue diagonal scar with another underneath on the left side of the forehead, blue dots between left for finger and thumb and the tattoo of a triumph on the upper part of his right arm. Thomas was transported about the "Royal Admiral", which departed Portsmouth on the 5th July 1830. The ship carried prisoners and a detachment of the 17th Regiment. They arrived in Sydney on 9th November 1830 and Thomas was assigned to John Jamieson of Goulburn, NSW. The 1837 General Return of Convicts states that Thomas was still in the service of Jamieson and on the 18th July 1841, received a Ticket of Leave to remain with the Yass District. Thomas met Mary Ann Hearne, of Salisbury Station, Bigga. He may have been laboring at her fathers property. A fortnight before Mary Ann's 12th Birthday she gave birth to a daughter which she named Mary Lucy. Her Father John Hearne may have insisted that Mary Ann and Thomas refrain from marriage until Thomas received a Condition Pardon, which he did on the 2nd January 1848. Thomas married Mary Ann in the Presbyterian Church, Goulburn on the 29th March 1848, she being only 15 years of age, he being 37 years of age. Thomas worked the Bigga district for a number of Years and later purchasing land. They lived on their land for two decades. Mary Ann succumbed to inflammation of the Lungs after an illness of only a few days. She died on the 20th December 1880, aged 48 and is laid to rest in "Salisbury" Private Cemetery that was owned by her father John Hearne at the time. Thomas was widowed and still had the responsibility of four children under the age of 14. He continued to live around the area until Thomas was found dead in his bed on the 3rd July 11891. An inquest determined that he died from a suspected Heart Attack. he was 81 years of age and he was laid to rest in "Salisbury" Private Cemetery, Bigga, NSW with his wife. They had 14 children.

John Elvins and Thomas Parry arrived per Burrell 1830. Thomas Elvins was 20 years old on arrival. Native Place: Birmingham. Occupation: Steel toy maker. Thomas could write, was married with 1 child, 5'4¾" tall, ruddy freckled coplexion, brown hair, hazel eyes. Assigned to the district of Argyle. 1841: TOL, Yass 20/2/1849: CP (Listed under the ship Royal Sovereign 1830 - no voyage in 1830 for the Royal Sovereign). 29/3/1848: Married Mary Anne Hearne, registered at Goulburn. They had 12 children. 3/7/1891: Thomas died at Blanket Flat, NSW. Mary Ann was born 27/5/1832 at Yass and died in 20/12/1880 at Blanket Flat, NSW.
