Convict Notes


1831, 19 July: Edward Evans, 46 and married, was convicted at Montgomery, Wales - along with Edward Rees, 36, and David Owen, 26, for wounding a mare and a gelding (see England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892). All three were admitted to the prison hulk Justitia at Woolwich on 7 October 1831 (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849). 1831, 6 December: Edward Evans and David Owens, a ploughman, were sent to the Ganymede hulk, and from there for transportation on the KS Forbes on 11 February 1832. 1832, 1 March: Edward Evans died on the voyage from cholera (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-11$init=CON31-1-11p132).
