Prince Regent, 1820-21. On Tuesday arrived from Ireland, the ship Prince Regent, Captain Clifford. She left the Cove of Cork the 19th of September last, and brings, in excellent health, 144 male prisoners. Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. Taylor, R. N. The guard comprises 30 men of the 1st Foot (Royals), under orders of Lieut. Lewis. Sydney Gazette, 13 Jan 1821.

Convict Notes
George Robert Evans, a native of Dublin, Ireland, was transported to NSW, arriving aboard the "Prince Regent" on the 15th July 1824. His offence was attending an illegal gathering in Dublin, for which he received a sentence of 7 Years transportation. George received his Ticket of Leave in January 1827, whilst assigned to a John Hillas of the Cookundoon Rangers. He remained working for Hillas for a few years, before moving to Kangaloolah, Binda, NSW. Around 1837 he married Jane Sullivan, a free person, though her parents Timothy & Catherine Sullivan were both convicts. They moved to Kangaloolah, Binda and George made his money from wool and firmly established his propetry "Evandale". In April 1857, George and Jane set up a shanty hotel by Kangaloolah Creek which they named "The Gold Diggers Arms". The discover of gold in the Tuena area assured the success of the hotel, as it was situated on the main Bathurst Road. They had 14 Children. Jane died aged 55 on the 23rd January 1874 at "Evandale", from injuries sustained after falling down the stairs. She was laid to rest in the Catholic portion of Laggan Cemetery, near Crookwell. George stayed on at "Evandale", dying on the 24th October 1879 from Dropsy. He is laid to rest beside his wife Jane. Their Headstone in Laggan Cemetery is a large Sandstone structure, just beautiful.
George Evans was 21 years old on arrival. Native Place: Longford, Ire. Transported for 'Attending an illegal political meeting' George was 5'3¾" tall, hazel eyes, brown hair, fresh freckled complexion. Assigned to Windsor for distribution. 1829: TOL Goulburn plains. 12/11/1830: COF
