Lawrence Ewart was transported on the Marion, departing 30th Oct 1851 and arriving 30th Jan 1852 with 281 passengers.
Built 1834 at Calcutta. Wood ship of 684 Tons. The 1847/48 voyage sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) BUT also went on to Port Phillip Bay, Victoria where 300 exiles disembarked. (The newspaper source says they were from Millbank, Pentonville & Parkhurst prisons.)

Prisoner No. 1122 Lawrence was 27 years old on arrival in WA, he was unmarried, 5'7 1/4" tall, sandy hair, brown eyes, long face, fair complexion, build: proportionate, small scar on left eye, small scar on mouth, thumb knuckle broken. 31/1/1852: TOL 10/7/1856: Expiree. No records of him found on WA BDM or 'Trove'.




Father Charles Ewart Mother Maryann Westerman Lawrence was born in Huddersfield, in 1841 he was working with his father in the family butchery shop aged 15,his family moved to nearby Holmfirth here he and is father became Dyer's in the textile industry until his crime I am looking for his ticket of release or any return info.
