Application for permission to marry: 30 June 1848 - Anne Farrell (Emma Eugenia) to Thomas DAVIS (transported per the 'Eden'). Approved. (ref. Tasmanian Archives) Marriage: 31 July 1848 Hobart district Ann Farrell aged 30yrs spinster to Thomas Davis aged 22yrs labourer. Church of England. (n.b. there are several marriages for women named Ann Farrell but this one matches the permission, even though she states she is a spinster. Remarriages were permitted, in the Colony.)




Ann FARRELL was convicted at Kingston upon Hull, England on 10 July 1845 for Highway Robbery - stealing a watch and battery with personal violence. 15yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Emma Eugenia' arriving 5 June 1846. Aged 30yrs; country servant; married woman (no children recorded on records in Tasmania); 5'2 1/2"; dark complexion; dk brown hair; dk brown eyes; 4 blue dots tattoo on left hand. Roman Catholic. Native Place - Glamorganshire Husband - Patrick, at Tipperary Brother - Richard Sisters - Mary, Fanny & B...... 6 months Probation Period. Assignments of service work. 1850 - 1854: at Oatlands, Tasmania. 8 June 1852: Ticket of Leave granted. 29 May 1855: Conditional Pardon granted.
