The "Morley" was built on the Thames, England in 1811. Convicts were transported to New South Wales on the Morley in 1817, 1818, 1820, 1828 and 1829 and to Van Diemen's Land in 1820 and 1823. 1829 Voyage. 200 Male English Convicts. Commander; Harrison. Richard Lewis; Surgeon Superintendent arrived 2 Dec 1829. All convicts survived the voyage.

Family connections for John (Fountain) are: FOUNTAIN John (Fountain) was born about 1790, perhaps in Staffordshire, & became a general labourer. He was a labourer at Sutton-at-Hone Kent when he was tried for stealing a writing desk etc of Rev. Edward (Winthrop)-of Suuton-at-Hone- at Kent Assizes on 5 8 1816, sentenced to death by hanging commuted to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 10 4 1817 after a voyage of 5.5months on MORLEY; he was 5'5.75" ruddy complexion light brown hair blue eyes. He was a labourer when he married with permission Margaret (Oliver her first marriage) on 24 8 1823 at St Phillips CofE Sydney.>>>He was Free by Servitude by 1824. On 4 10 1824 he was living at Harrington St Sydney & applied for land next to his father in law at Hunters Hill. He was issued his Ticket of Leave on 10 11 1825 for Windsor. At some time he was a Master mariner. [Some details taken from this Website] Margaret (Oliver) was born on 30 3 1808 & baptised on 31 5 1810 age2 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. She married secondly Peter Joseph (Duffy) on 14 6 1836. She died in 1885 age about77 mother of 1known child. Trial at Kent assizes:- "Labourer of Sutton at Hone, Kent, were offence took place. Charged that he broke into the dwelling house of the Reverand Edward Winthrop and stole a writing desk worth 40s., pocket book worth 1s., pen-knife worth 5s., pair of shoes 1s., and various coins and banknotes. Pleaded not guilty. Found not guilty of burglary, but guilty of stealing the goods. Sentence to be hanged - later commuted to transportation". He married Margaret Oliver (third daughter of Henry and Margaret Oliver (nee Sheldon))on 28 April 1823 at St Peters in Sydney. He had one son, John Fountain, born on 6 February 1824. Margaret Fountain remarried Peter Joseph Duffy on 14th June 1836 and I have no further records of John Fountain, except from his sons death certificate stating his father was a master mariner.
