Thomas Francis (alias Thompson) was tried Middlesex, London for stealing. 7yr sentence. Transported to New South Wales on the ‘Surrey’ 1834.

Single man; labourer; native place - St. Giles; 5’6 1/2”; fresh complexion; brown hair; Hazel eyes; Protestant; can read & write.

Tried Sydney S.C. 05/08/1839 for Assault - on Corpl Lowe of 21st Reg. Francis stated “I struck him on the head with a spade as he had stabbed me.”  15 yr sentence.  Spent 6yrs on Norfolk Island.
Transferred to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) on the ‘Lady Franklin’ 26/11/1845.
Station Gang - Port Cygnet 1yr.
Numerous offences of misconduct.
To be moved to Norfolk Island 1850.
