The 'King William' ship departed Kingston, Ireland on 28 April 1840 for New South Wales, Australia with 180 male prisoners, 9 free passengers (some sons of the prisoners), arriving 17 Aug 1840 (111 days). 80th & 96th Regiment Guards. Four women and several children. Note: As this ship sailed direct from Ireland it's details are not complete on this British register. Names of convicts are being added in, by Volunteers and as yet not complete.

Convict Notes
Patrick was 15 years of age when transported. He is described as 5foot and 11/2 inches tall with dark brown hair and grey eyes with a dark pale complexion. He had a prior conviction, also for stealing. His mother and siblings were dependent on him. Ticket of leave granted 15 July 1845. Patrick was assigned to the Yass district and worked at St. Omer's near Braidwood for the remainder of his sentence and for some time after. He married a widow, Mary Harrington (nee Kelly) who had one son in Goulburn on 17 August 1853. The couple had seven more children at St. Omer's before moving to Boro where two more children were born. Mary died of puerperal fever after the birth of another child on 15 November 1874. Patrick died in 1899.
