Indent for Barwell George Gambling, age 34, tried Hants Gaol Delivery, 6 July 1796, beyond the seas, 14 years. William Wood, age 28, tried Hants Gaol Delivery, 6 July 1796, beyond the seas, 7 years.




William Wood, Thomas Stower, John Ford, John Holbrook, and George Gambling, for breaking open the dwelling-house of Daniel Williams, and stealing several pair of shoes, shirts, neckcloths, and other articles, Romsey—Wood seven, and Gambling fourteen, years transportation - Stower two years , and Ford and Holbrook ? months, imprisonment in Bridewell. Hampshire Chronicle, 9 July 1796. Wm. Wood, concerned with others in a burglary, was sentenced to seven years transportation; and George Gambling, a landlord, Romsey, for receiving stolen apparel, to be transported for 14 years.
