Convict Notes

Mary was convicted of stealing a sheep together with MARGARET MARA, aged 48, a mother of 8 children. They were both transported for 7 years on the ship City of Edinburgh, and both spent a good deal of their sentences at the Parramatta Female Factory. Mary Gibbons was not married to JOHN MARA but MARGARET MARA was married to him. This error on Mary Gibbons's indent was later corrected by the colonial administration. Mary and her husband, Thomas Randall were well respected members of the Parramatta and Smithfield districts.
