William worked at Narrowgut near Morpeth NSW Australia from the age of 18 until parolled after 9 years and later given Crown Land at Ulmarra Portion 48 in 1848. Three children from his marriage to Agnes Brown ex Liverpool Quarter Sessions arrived 1836 for life, Ellen Caroline, Agnes, William.

Government records show the surname to be spelt as Goodyer, this is not correct and was corrected by William to Goodger in all his future dealings.
