n.b. there are 3 William Griffith on the sailing of the ‘Duchess of Northumberland’.

William Griffith was convicted at Gloucester on 10 Jan 1840 for stealing. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ‘Duchess of Northumberland’ arriving Jan 1843.

Aged 23yrs; single; Protestant; can read & write; labourer; 5’4”; fair complexion; light hair; grey eyes.
Native Place: Tewkesbury
Father: John
Sisters: Elizabeth, Ann, Jane & Sarah

2 years Probation Period in Colony.
Browns River.
