William HAIR was convicted at Corfu, 1838 for embezzlement from Officers. 14 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ‘Canton’ arriving 12 Jan 1840.

Single man.

Assignments in Colony.
18 months Probation.
3 Mar 1846 Ticket of Leave granted.
21 Sept 1847 Conditional Pardon approved.
26 Nov 1852 Free Certificate

Married 10 April 1844 at Hobart. (ref. 37/1/3 no. 1181). William, aged 38 yrs, Constable. Marion aged 23yrs, Spinster.

William Hair died 19 March 1853, Hobart. Constable. (Dropsy) ref: 35/1/3 2190

His wife Marion remarried in 1862 (to Martin Marsh)
