The Convict Indentures state that Mary Halfpenny was 32 years old. She could read; religion Roman Catholic; status single a native of County Down. She was kitchen maid. Mary was convicted of vagrancy at Down on 11 July 1837 and sentenced to 7 years transportation. She had one prior conviction and served 6 months. Physical attributes: Height 4 feet 8 1/4 inches; complexion ruddy and freckled; hair dark brown and eyes brown and speckled. Transport number 119. Prisoner number 118-38.
