Petition to Frederick Goulburn, Esq. Colonial Secretary 14 Jan 1824. Sir, I beg leave to represent to you that I came to this colony by the ship “Glory”, Barynck master, under sentence of Court for Life. - was assigned to John Dunean of Sydney, and having obtained my master’s consent to be published in Church to Mary Bubb, a female prisoner per Ship Ld. Sidmouth, assigned servant to Doctor Halloran, and also his approbation to the same, - I respectfully solicit your Sanction to the same – being by trade a shoemaker, and capable of affording her … Benjamin Harmer Told that if when married they did not live as man and wife, they should be sent to Emu Plains.

20/4/1814; Benjamin Harmer was 21 when sentences to transportation for life for Violent Theft~Highway Robbery. He was put on the Hulk Retribution awaiting transportation but absconded and started up a shoemaking business. He was arrested again and on 17/9/1817 was sentenced to Death for the charge of having returned from transportation. He was then put on the 'Glory' in 1818. He Was described as being 5'5 1/2" tall, sallow complexion, dark brown hair and eyes and 2 moles on his left cheek. His Native Place was Wapping, London. 14/1/1824: Re Permission to marry. 28/4/1824: Shoemaker, On return of Bonded Mechanics. 8/10/1824: Assigned Government tradesman whose master was a defaulter in payment for. 1825: On list of convicts mustered in the employ of David Kelly, a Butcher in Pitt Street. 1829 TOL - District of Sydney. Married Mary Budd in 1824. 18/12/1833: Died at Campbelltown, he is buried at the Church of St. Peter's Cemetery, Campbelltown.
