George Haskell, Groom & soldier, age 24, height 5ft 11 ¼, dark complexion, dark hazel eyes, dark brown hair, native place, Oxford. ------------------------------------------------- Conduct Record: https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-21$init=CON31-1-21p199 2185. George Haskell, per Sarah. Tried Barbadoes Ct Martial, 18 July 1836, 14 years. Transported for mutiny/ Gaol report, none. Hulk Report, Good. Single. Stated this offence, Striking my superior officer, a sergeant. I was drunk at the time. Once 100 lashes for assault, once discharged, single. Surgeon’s Report: Hospital attendant behaved very well. Strongly recommended, uncompromising love of truth. “Recorded in his favour for his highly praiseworthy conduct upon the occasion of an attempt at Mutiny on board the convict ship Sarah when on her passage from England, in giving information & maintaining discipline of the ship, by which the attempt was happily frustrated. Vide Memo Supt. 6 April 1837. Several other incidents of misconduct recorded, including being drunk. T.L. 19/5/43. C.P approved 4 May 1846. Free Cert 12 Dec 1851.
