ESSEX QUARTER SESSION
Lazarus Hempstead, 22, labourer, charged with having stolen, at Brundon, two hind-quarters of mutton, the property of Joseph Eaton, Hale of Somerton, in the county of Sluffolk.___Ten years’ transportation.
Sent to the Leviathan Hulk.
Lazarus was born at Bon Marton near Sudbury.
Brothers: Edward, Thomas, William - at native place.
Sisters, Eliza, Sarah, Susan.
Lazarus was single, 5’3¼” tall, fresh complexion, black hair, no whiskers, brown eyes, scar on forefinger right hand, scar on chin.
13/10/1849: Working for Mr. Thorpe at the Huon.
19/3/1850: TOL revoked for being absent from muster.
Found no further mention of Lazarus in Tasmania or elsewhere.
