In the colony, Richard had a long term de-facto relationship with Margaret Howe (Convict, 1804, “Experiment”).  The couple had 4 children between 1806 and 1816; Sarah, John, James and Ann.
However, the relationship must have broken up because in 1819, Margaret married one Thomas White (sailor, came free, 1803, “Rolla”).
