Newspaper report, Hull Packet 26 October 1830: 'Francis Hill, (31), and John Goodyear, (37), were charged with stealing four bushels of wheat, four bushels of oats, some barley, a gun, a hollow spade, and several articles, at Sutton-upon-Derwent, the property of Thos. Burn' on 19th July. Hill was formerly living with Mr Burn as a servant. 'Hill's place was searched, where nothing was found belonging to the prosecutor, but during the search, a son of Hill's went off to a person named Isles, (an accomplice admitted evidence) and was heard to call out - "Mind - they're coming to search your house, and if you've anything get it out."'
