Although Smees records show Elizabeth (Love) marrying John (Hoare/Hore SPEKE 1808) the records show the father of her children to be John (Hoare/Hore/Hone/Hord) CANADA 1801), which is substantiated by entries on this Website. Perhaps an error in identification by the colony's scribes occurred. ++ Therefore we start again: ..John (Hoare/Hore/Hare) was born on 8 6 1776 at Wexford Ireland. He was tried for mutiny at Court Martial on HMS GLADIATOR, sentenced to 7years, held on hulk CAPTIVITY & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 12 1801 after a voyage of 6.5months on Fleet ship CANADA; he was Catholic. He arrived on Norfolk Island in 1801 according to Ref:'People...'. He left Norfolk Island in 1804 according to this Website. He was Free by Servitude by 1811 & his Ticket of Leave was issued on 18 7 1811. With his son in law John (Robinson) & father Charles (Robinson who worked at the Government Stockyard at Cowpastures/Liverpool), in 1820, he purchased stray Government cattle (those that had been imported from South Africa, strayed or been stolen from the original settlement & later found at Cowpastures (hence the name)), & moved them to Pambula where the (Robinson)s established Honeysuckle Farm. He was recorded in 1828 with his family at Airds. He died on 25 4 1862 age85 & was buried at Dapto RC. ..[Some details taken from this Website] .. Buried at Dapto R/C with wife, Elizabeth nee Love. Her headstone and D/C details incorrect. An 1863 photo of her and eldest daughter Ann Phibbs nee Hore, has notes on back indicating that Elizabeth was born in NSW in Jan 1792 and did not arrive on Matilda with parents in 1791. Further, she consistently declared herself BC at five separate musters and censuses.




John's wife was Elizabeth Love, they married 10th July 1809 at Sydney. Elizabeth was born at sea, aboard the "Matilda" in 1791. the first fleet lost their cattle . years later they were found . i found a newspaper article that stated that john robinson and john hoare bought the rights to the herd, found at cowpasture liverpool . they took the herd to pambula on far south coast, john robinson married john hoares daughter martha, . one of their daughters, elizabeth amelia married charles robertson and they started honeysuckle farm pambula . john robinson's father charles robinson had come to australia as a soldier on the 'active" ship. he married elizabeth harris , a convict , by 1820 charles robinson worked at the government stock yard which would have helped the two younger men to buy the herd. the news paper article was in the sydney mail, 1903. here is the site http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/page/16807532?zoomLevel=4
John Hoare arrived in Australia as a convict at Sydney on the "Canada" on 14th Dec 1801 after leaving England on 21st June 1801 and coming via Rio de Janeiro. He was also imprisoned on Norfolk Island between 1802 & 1804. He obtained his "Ticket of Leave" on 15th Jul 1811.
