Quarter Sessions of Cashel. Richard Walsh and James Faby were indicted for violently assaulting Thomas Sullivan Coalbrook, and doing him grievous bodily harm; prosecutor could not assign any cause for the assault in this case, which was of a very brutal nature, his assailants, particularly the former, having beaten him with stones, so fracture his skull and leave him for dead on the road. was confined from the effects of the beating for nearly six weeks at the infirmary at Cashel. The prisoners being convicted, were sentenced, the former to 7 years transportation and the latter twelve months imprisonment, six months thereof at hard labour. Michael Hogan, convicted of a violent assault on James Kinnealy, was sentenced to seven years transportation. This assault was also unprovoked and ... could be assigned for the prosecutor.
