Convict Notes

From the New South Wales Government Gazette, 06-02-1833, listed as a runaway convict. Hugh Hosie, No. 27-1619, Manlius, 23, Errand Boy, Glasgow, 5 feet 5½, hazel grey eyes, dark brown hair, sallow freckled comp. woman, heart, dart, J D on right arm, H H and thistles on left arm, from Mr. H. Hall, Invermein ; 2d time of running.

A discovery we understand has been made, the effect of which will be to let loose again on society two noted thieves, who were tried and convicted in the High Court of Justiciary on Thursday week, namely, Hugh Hosey and Alexander Mackay, the former of whom was sentenced to 14 years transportation for theft, and the latter to be executed for housebreaking. We are credibly informed that neither of these sentences can be carried into effect, in consequence of its having been discovered that one of the jurors, who sat on both trials, is under the age of 21.
