The earlier offence mentioned above: William Hurle, charged with obtaining quarten loaves: from George Burbidge, Trowbridge, under false pretences. Devizes Gazette, 17 Dec 1829.




Wm. Witcombe, and Wm. Hurle, convicted of stealing fowls, the property of Wm. Ricketts, at Bradford, were each sentenced to be transported for seven years.—Witcombe is an old offender, and Hurle was convicted at the Devizes Sessions, of obtaining bread at Trowbridge under false pretences, and sentenced to S months hard labour.—He had been released but very few days, before was apprehended for the above offence ; and was brought to Salisbury while the Sessions were holding. Devizes Gazette, 29 April 1830. On Thursday last, the following convicts were removed from Fisherton Gaol, and put on board the York hulk, at Gosport, pursuant to their respective sentences ... William Rose, Wm. Freeman, William Widcomb, William Hurle, William Watts, and Isaac Hudd, sentenced to seven years transportation. The above were convicted our last county sessions.
