Family connections for Jane (Ison) are: Some amendments added Jul 2025. ISON Jane (Ison) was born on 2 11 1770. She was tried w/4others for violent assault, on 2 11 1792, & theft of a watch etc of William (Ellis) at probably Old Bailey in February 1793, sentenced to death reprieved to to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 17 10 1794 after a voyage 8.5months on SURPRISE. She seems to have married, perhaps firstly (1of3), Edward (Jaggers). She married perhaps secondly (2of3) William (Eaton his first marriage) on 3 8 1800 at St Phillips CofE Sydney & produced 9children. She was Free by Servitude by 1802.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] William (Eaton) was born on 3 2 1769. He was tried for stealing cheese probably at Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at London or Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 or 16 10 1791 after a voyage of 6 or 9.5months on Fleet ship ADMIRAL BARRINGTON. He was Free by Servitude by 1800. He was farming near the Grose River in 1820. He apparantly fathered Jane (Ison)s daughter Martha (Brian) who was born on 26 6 1798 & baptised on 5 8 1798 at St Johns CofE Parramatta & became Martha (Eaton) see just below. He married secondly Jane (Foster her third marriage) emancipist on 6 9 1824 at St Peters CofE Richmond. He is recorded in 1828 with some of his family at Richmond. He produced perhaps 10known children in his lifetime. She died on 1/3 8 1823 at Richmond age52/3 mother of 10known children & was buried, as Eatonnee Ison) at St Peters CofE Richmond. [Her death is actually recorded twice in Smees records as Jane (Ison) emancipist 1790 SURPRISE & Jane (Eaton) emancipist 1794 SURPRISE, wife of William]] William (Bryant/Brian) was born on 12 2 1776. He was tried at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict n 14 2 1792 after a voyage of 8.5months on PITT; much fever & attempts to escape from the ship resulted in deaths of convicts-of the 450convicts on board only 29 were alive at muster in May 1792 (or perhaps only this many could be mustered). He had a first relationship with Margaret (Maloney her first relationship). He was Free by Servitude by 1798. He appears to also have adopted 1child. He was recorded in 1828 & 1830 as a farmer. He died on 21 4 1860 age84 father of 3children. SARAH LOFT. ANN SIMMONS. ELIZABETH REDERICK. ANN DAWSON. JANE ISON. Violent Theft; robbery. 15th December 1792. 15. SARAH LOFT , ANN SIMMONS , ELIZABETH REDERICK , ANN DAWSON , and JANE ISON , were indicted for making an assault in the dwelling house of Ann Dawson , upon William Ellis , on the 2d of November ; and feloniously taking from his person, and against his will, a silver watch, value 20 s. a canvas purse, value 1 d. and 31 l. in monies numbered, the goods, chattels, and monies of the said William Ellis . (The Case was opened by Mr. Garrow.) ... Prisoner Ison. Ever since my husband's decease I have been at Canterbury, and had only come up that evening as this gentleman took me. I was taken up for this same affair, and this same woman (Wheeler) came against me, that there woman came into the little room and told me if I would make her a present of a small trifle, that neither she nor her husband would appear against me on Wednesday. Mrs. Wheeler. I never said such a thing to her upon my oath. Prisoner Ison. Did not I see you on Wednesday evening, and then you asked me for the money? - It is not true, I did attend on Wednesday.
