William Jones was tried at Shrewsbury, Shropshire on 12 March 1785 for stealing a purse and cash with a value of 96 shillings. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Friendship aged about 21 at that time (May 1787). His occupation was listed as stocking weaver.
Report from Dunkirk hulk was “tolerably decent and orderly”.On 21 August 1788 sentenced to receive 50 lashes for gambling.
