Convict Notes




The Convict Indentures state that William Jones was 19 years old. He could not read or write; Religion Protestant and his status was single. A native of Kent and occupation a baker's boy. He was convicted of house stealing at the Central Criminal Court (The Old Bailey) on 4 January 1836. He was convicted and sentenced to life. He had one prior conviction for which he served three weeks and was flogged. Physical attribute Height: 5 feet 5 1/2 inches; Complexion dark sallow; hair black and hair chestnut. Prisoner number 36-2086 and transport number 55.
