The 1825 Journey. The ship Mariner, Captain Fotherley, arrived from Ireland with female prisoners, on Sunday evening. She left the Cove of Cork, the 12th of March, and brings 112 female prisoners, having lost only one on the passage. A few passengers also came per this opportunity. John Keefe, tried and found guilty of pig-stealing at Spring Assizes, 1821, and sentenced to seven years’ transportation. This man immediately after sentence had been pronounced upon him at that Assizes, made his escape from the dock. But having been lately apprehended, the Judge has directed his former sentence to be carried into execution. Limerick Chronicle, 2 Aug 1826. On Wednesday sennight, John Keefe and Timothy M'Carty, under sentence of transportation, escaped from the dock of Tralee Court-house. A reward is offered for their apprehension.
