Catherine Kelly was convicted at Carlow, Ireland on 23 June 1851 for stealing clothes. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania)on the ship ‘Midlothian’ arriving 24 Feb 1853.
Single; 1 child - onboard with her; aged 20yrs; child’s maid; Roman Catholic; 5’1”.
Native place - Carlow, Ireland.
Child: Ann KELLY. Father listed as William RYAN. Ann admitted to St. Johns Orphanage, New Town (nr Hobart) 20 June 1854. Discharged 26 Feb 1855 to her mother, now on Ticket of Leave. (ref. SWD28)

Ticket of Leave granted 26 Sept 1854.
Permission to marry approved. Married Thomas Jones (transported on Fairlie) 30 Jan 1855.
