RUNAWAY NOTICE. POLICE OFFICE, HOBART TOWN, June 10, 1825. Ann Mary Kelly (30), 4ft. 11 1/4in. Dark brown hair, grey eyes, 26 years of age, a weaver, tried at London, Dec. 1820, sentence 7 years, arrived in this Colony per Providence 1821, native place County of Kildare, absconded from the service of Mr. J. S. Morriss, Brown's River, June 1825.—£2 Reward.

if my research is correct Mary Ann Kelly was my 3 great grandmother,born in Kildare Ireland her parent where Jno Kelly and Ann Ryan. Mary had one son born 1814 she was not married.who she left in England with her mother.his name was David Storer and was my great grandfather A son was born 1837 a John Martin from her marriage in 1827. Offences: Royal Offences > coining offences; Royal Offences > coining offences Verdicts: Guilty > pleaded guilty; Not Guilty Punishments: Transportation CHARLES CARNEGY, EDWARD WHITEMAN GEORGE PRESTON, HENRY ERRINGTON, JOHN WILSON JAMES HUDSON, WILLIAM FAULKNER JAMES HENWRIGHT, MARY ANN KELLY MARY ANN PLATT JANE WINGFIELD, ELIZA DENHAM and MARY JONES were severally and separately indicted for having in their possession forged Bank notes, knowing them to be forged. The prisoners severally pleaded GUILTY. Transported for Fourteen Years. Before Mr. Recorder. 30. The same prisoners were again severally and separately indicted for disposing of and putting away forged Bank notes, with intent to defraud. MR. REYNOLDS, on behalf of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, declined offering any evidence. NOT GUILTY. The Providence arrived in Hobart on 18th December 1821 and sailed from there on 31st December reaching Port Jackson Monday night 7th January 1822. Fifty female prisoners arrived in Port Jackson in good health, having left about fifty three women in Hobart. Mary Ann Kelly was 22 years old on arrival in VDL. She had dark brown hair, grey eyes, illiterate, and was listed as having 1 child with her mother. 15/12/1822: Quitting her master's premises without leave and neglecting her duty - To wear an iron collar and fed on bread and water only for 1 week and to sit in the stocks 2 day, 2 hours each day - Hobart Gaol. 27/5/1823: Repeatedly absconding from her master's service and remaining absent 6 days Sentence: To be sent to the factory 12 months Place of sentencing: Hobart FF. 2/10/1823: Wetting the yarn spun by her with intent to defraud by increasing its weight and thus make her work less. Sentence: To be kept in the Crime Class 3 months from this date and 7 days bread and water Place of sentencing: Hobart FF Current master, location or status: Hobart FF. 11/6/1825: Absconding from her master's service 6th of June, and remaining absent till apprehended this day. Sentence: 1 week on bread and water and Crime Class, factory Place of sentencing: Hobart FF Current master, location or status: JS Morris, Brown's River. 14/10/1825: Not returning to her master on Monday last. Sentence: Factory for assignment Place of sentencing: Hobart FF Current master, location or status: Walker. 22/3/1826: Not proceeding to the service of her master at New Norfolk last Thursday week when she was sent out of the factory for that purpose and remaining absent till apprehended this morning by Constable Yates. Likely marriage: 13/8/1827: Married John Martin at Hobart. 22/10/1830: Formerly living with her husband/Being illegally at large also gaining her livelihood by prostitution - 6 months in the House of Corrections. 27/6/1834: Martin/Drunk and making use of bad language - House of Correction, 3 months. No children listed and no date of death found.
