On 17 February 1843, 18 year old Grace Stevens was reported for misconduct by Joseph Archer of 'Panshangar' in Longford, namely, being with Isaac Kett for improper intercourse. Kett was in service to Thomas Archer at 'Woolmers' and was probably making use of his trade as a cooper in the apple-cider brewing shed. As punishment for their misdemeanour, both he and Grace were sentenced to six months' hard labour. Grace served her sentence in the House of Correction, the Female Factory, in Launceston. Notes from 'Convict Lives' published by the FCRC.
