Having received with culpable negligence into his house in this parish on the 23rd Dec, one Thos Mount, a convict illegally at large, Fined £10 & costs. -------------------------------------------------------------- GOVERNMENT NOTICE. NO. 286. Colonial Secretary's Office, Oct 24, 1829. The Lieutenant Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointment of William Montgomerie, (No. 663,) per Bengal Merchant, to be a Javelin Man and Constable, vice John Lamb, who is permitted to resign having obtained a Conditional Pardon. By Command of The Lieutenant Governor, J. BURNETT. Hobart Town Gazette, 31 Oct 1829. It is possible that John Lamb obtained his early Conditional Pardon, as a reward for his action while serving in the police, possibly apprehending a prisoner.
