William’s wife Mary, aged 18, was transported on Phoebe in 1844, for 7 years for stealing two frocks in Enniskillen. On her indent she states that she committed this crime to get transported with her mother. Her mother, Jane Keenen, was a 63 year old widow, who was tried at Fermanagh in April 1844 for stealing butter worth 4 shillings and ½ d, and she was sentenced to 7 years transportation. Jane was also transported on Phoebe in 1844. Jane Keenan died 17 April 1851, as a result of falling down the stairs. The informant on her death registration was William Lamb, her son-in-law.
