Convict Notes

Thomas Lame was my 3 x great grandfather. It appears he arrived in VDL via the Lady Harewood in 1829 then arrived in Sydney Cove via the vessel Waterloo on 23 April 1834. Indentured to T Campbell, Gerringong, Illawarra NSW (hard to read this page. He obtained his Ticket of Leave in 1834. He was granted a Convict Application to Marry Mary Ann Williams in 1840, having first been refused. He described himself as a widower but according to other information, his wife Mary Campbell died in 1878. He must have returned to England where he died in 1845 at Blything. I have not researched his return vessel.

23/7/1828 Bury and Norwich Post Suffolk, England: SUFFOLK SESSIONS Abraham Johnson and Thomas Lame, for stealing a pig, the property of Mr. Woolby, of Halesworth, were sentenced to he transported for 7 years. Abraham Johnson and Thomas Lame were listed as having arrived on the 'Lady Harewood 1829' to VDL - however both arrived together on the 'Waterloo 1829' to NSW and are on the NSW Convict database. Thomas Lame received his TOL in 1834 at Illawarra. No date of death found.
