770. SARAH LANE was indicted for stealing, on the 23d of February , 1 shawl, value 7s. , the goods of Sarah Nicholas , and Simon Latter .

JAMES HARRIS . I am a pawnbroker. On the 23d of February, at ten o’clock at night, the prisoner came to pawn this shawl for 4s.; 1 suspected it was stolen, and asked where she had got it; she said she had just bought it at Messrs. Nichols for 6s.; but as there was a ticket marked 16s. 6d. on it, I detained her.

GEORGE WHIPPLE . I am apprentice to Sarah Nichols and Simon Latter, pawnbrokers , Ratcliffe ; this shawl is theirs, and was safe between five and six o’clock that evening; I did not miss it till Mr. Harris came.

GUILTY . Aged 29.
