Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. Thomas Leahy, age on arrival, 28, per Prince Regent I (2) 1824, Tried Cork Co., 1823, Life, DOB, 1796, native of Cork Co. Fencer reaper. ---------------------------------------------------- The High Sheriff of the County Cork, has received a respite, to stay the execution of Denis Shehan, Jeremiah Flynn, and T. Leahy, three of the persons who had been found guilty of attacking and setting fire to the house of Mr. Hennessy, near Castletownroche, but were recommended by the Jury to the mercy of the Court, on consideration that they had been forced to assist in the attack. Drogheda Journal, 30 July 1823. Andrew Sullivan, Patrick Hennessy, sen. Patrick Hennesty, jun. John Finn, and David Magner, were executed this day at Gallows Green, pursuant to their sentence at the late Assizes, for setting fire to the mills and dwelling house of Charles Hennessy, near Castletownroche, in this county on the night of the 24th of April last., Nine men it will be recollected, were convicted of the offence, of whom four have since been respited.
