James last name was hard to read it looked like Lenis or Lenvis. He died at Port Arthur.

James and his brother Griffith were jointly charged, at Bucks on 30/06/1840, with highway robbery in stealing from a person. Both given 15 yr sentences and transported to Van Diemen’s Land on the ‘Lord Lyndoch’ arriving, 05/02/1841.
Native Place: Banbury, Oxfordshire. Born abt 1815. Listed as 25yrs of age upon arrival. Mother - Ann; sisters - Catherine, Elizabeth & Rebecca. Brother Griffith, on board ship.
5’5”; dark complexion; lt brown eyes; brown hair; single man; can read & write; labourer - Tallow chandler.
No details are entered in on the Conduct Record page, however died at the Port Arthur Penal settlement.

The surname of James and his brother Griffith is definitely ‘LEWIS’. They are both recorded in the Archives officially under this name - transcribing it from reading the page may seem otherwise, but other records and indexes are ‘Lewis’. Changing a surname would definitely hinder researchers.
