Gaoler's report: Character bad, a reputed sheep-stealer, married with six children. Annotated: Nil. Petitioner(s): Eight parish officers and ten other inhabitants of Tadcaster [Yorkshire]. Grounds for clemency: First offence; previous good character; has a wife and six children; he was driven to the crime by starvation after his business failed and he was refused relief by the parish.
