The only witnesses then examined were, Mr. Hill, the keeper of the Goat Inn, Forty Hill, Enfield, and Jasper Jones, his hostler; they spoke to the three Prisoners coming to the Inn on the morning of the 28th of.November last, before seven o'Clock, with four horses, which were very dirty, and appeared to have been rode some distance, as one of them in particular was much fatigued and was obliged to be led. The Prisoners, when asked if they wished to , any questions to the witnesses, or give or give any account of the horses, very openly acknowledged that they were the three men who were at the said Goat as described, and said they could account very well their possession of the horses; but would decline it at present, as the Magistrates had intimated their determination to commit them for trial. As all the other witnesses had been present, and given their evidence, on a former examination, and were bound over to prosecute, Mr. Hill and Mr. Jones, entered into a similar recognizance, and the Prisoners were fully committed to take their trial at the next Spring Assizes, to be holden for the Isle of Ely, or the separate charges of Mr. Thomas Granger, Mr Edward Granger, Mr. Goodlife, and Mr.Read, all of the Isle of Ely, who have, by the exertions of Vickery and Bishop, each recovered his horse: The Prisoners were remanded to the House of Correction, for further examination as it is supposed several other charges will be brought forward.
