The Patriot Convict Indentures state that John Lord was 30 years old. He could read and write; religion Protestant; status single and a native of Yorkshire. His trade was labourer and soldier in 35 Regiment. He was convicted of striking 2 Officers (Sergeants)at Mauritius General Court Martial on 19 September 1837 and convicted to 14 years transportation. He had prior convictions for which he served 200 lashes, 200 lashes, 6 months, 6 months and 1 other punishment. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 7 1/2 inches; complexion ruddy; hair sandy brown and eyes hazel. Transport number: 10. Prisoner number 38-207.
