James LUCAS departed from Launceston, VDL on 27 April 1852 bound for Melbourne, Victoria. Recorded as Free by Servitude, to Colony per 'Theresa'. Steerage passage.

William TAPPING (also k/a James LUCAS) was convicted at the CCC, London on 16 Dec 1844 for stealing a handkerchief. Previous conviction. 10yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Theresa' arriving 14 July 1845. Aged 23yrs; single man; Protestant; can read; a weaver by trade; 5'6 1/2". Native Place: Spitafields, London. 18mths Probation Period in Colony. Station Gang: Port Esperance 8 Jan 1850: Ticket of Leave granted. 13 April 1852: Conditional Pardon approved.
