Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The Convict Indentures state that Catherine Lynch is 55 years old. She could neither read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status widow with one son and a native of County Cavan. Catherine was convicted of receiving stolen goods at Leuth on 11 January 1838 and sentenced to 7 years. She had one prior conviction and served five months. Physical attributes: Height 4 feet 10 1/4 inches; complexion ruddy; hair grey and eyes blue. Transport number 167. Prisoner number 163-39. Received Certificate of Freedom in 1847 (number 47/458).
