She was transported to Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania) where she married a male convict, William Hayes, in 1852. They had 3 daughters, Maria in 1853, Winifred in 1855 and Mary in 1857. Maria and Winifred were received at the Queen's Orphanage, Hobart, in 1859 when they were 6 and 4 years old respectively. Mary seems to have remained with her mother until 1869 when William Hayes was convicted of sexually assaulting his daughters Winifred, aged 14, and Mary, aged 11. He went to gaol and Mary went to the orphanage. In 1878 Catherine married Alexander Parker, a widower. I have not found any record of the death of William Hayes, and I wouldn't bet that he wasn't still alive when Catherine married her second husband. He may have changed his name to Frank Seymour. Maria married James Octavius Hutchins in 1882, and had 5 children. Winifred married Edward Francis Parker (son of Alexander Parker) in 1881 and had 5 children. Then, after her husband died in 1890, she married William Nicholas Lopez and had one more child (who was to be by grandfather).
