Alexander McGOVERIN was convicted at Liverpool, England on 4 July 1836 for stealing money from a woman. Previous conviction. Life sentence. Gaol & Hulk Reports: "good". Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Sarah' arriving 29 March 1837. Ship surgeon's report: "good". Married man, wife Elizabeth. 1 or 2 children. Trade - coachman & groom. Aged 29 yrs. Fresh complexion; brown hair; blue eyes. Lame right leg. Live at Liverpool. Native place of birth: Co. Tyrone. Brother: William - transported to New South Wales in 1829. VDL: Assigned to work services in the Colony. 1838: Oatlands Road Party 13 March 1841: Died at Cleveland Road Station. (Memo to LG 16 March 1841) DEATH: Alexander McGOVERIN died 13 March 1841. Buried 16 March. Cleveland, Campbell Town district, VDL. (No cause of death recorded. ref. 34/1/2 no. 854)
