John was born at Huntingdonshire and his father and mother were at Eaton Socon, Bedfordshire, when he was convicted. Tasmanian Convict Records list him as John Mackrain. 17/5/1843: CP 2/10/1843: Married Mary Ann Thorpe (Majestic) and had 11 children - Listed as John Markham - children (some of which died in infancy) are listed as Markham. 24/5/1885: John died at Launceston.
