Peter Magin was 23 years old on arrival in VDL, his native place was Manchester. Peter was transported for 'Stealing Money in the Dwelling House of Mr Williams, Liverpool'. Previous convictions: Once for Shoplifting 2 years in Kirkdale House of Correction, 3 times for Vagrancy, 3 months each time. Peter was 5'3½" tall, dark complexion, black hair and whiskers, grey eyes, nail of forefinger right hand broken, 3 small scars centre of forehead, breast hairy, single, reads and writes a little. Father: John a linen draper, Ashton. Sister: Mary. 1835 Muster: Assigned to Mr. Lanachan. 8/12/1844: TOL April 1846: Recommended for a CP 1847: CP 1848 Census: Living in Elizabeth Street, Hobart Town- Free. 9/2/1850 The Shipping Gazette and Sydney General Trade List: Listed as a passenger on the ship 'Harmony' for San Francisco. Also listings in 'Trove': 24/7/1856 Bendigo Advertiser, Vic: Peter Magin, for 20 yards on Hagin's Reef, Long Gully. This application was postponed until next week. 26/8/1881 Bendigo Advertiser, Vic: Probate of his Will - Peter Magin, £91. No death or marriage listed on the Vic BDM.
