Family connections for Jane (Maher) are: MAHER Jane (Maher) was born about 1767 & became a madam/keeper of a brothel. She had a relationship with someone & produced a child:>>> [Some details taken from this Website] 1.male (???) was born <1797 in Dublin. He was later sought in 1802 by his mother by correspondence, who intended to assist monetarily with his education & upbringing. .. >>>Jane (Maher) was tried for stealing money from a patron of the brothel at Dublin, sentenced to 7years, held at New Prison & arrived in NSW as a convict on 27 5 1797 after a voyage 5.5months on BRITANNIA. She had a second (2of3) relationship with Edward Turley (Smith his second relationship). She created a baking business & obtained property. In 1802 she sought her child in Dublin by correspondence intending to assist monetarily with his education & upbringing. However, she, described as Jane (Marr) a woman, died on 27 4 1802 age35 mother of 3known children & was buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. Edward Turleigh (Smith) was born about 1761 maybe in Dublin Ireland & became member of (Mendoza) gang of criminals. He was tried w/brother James & ??? (Mendoza) for highway robbery at Cork Ireland, sentenced to be hanged reprieved to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 2 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS. He had a first relationship with Susannah (Dunsford her first relationship). He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 31 1 1814. He died on 10 4/4 7 1821 age60 at Richmond or 1841 father of 3childrend & was buried at St Peters CofE Richmond. __________________ Belfast Newsletter April 2nd 1802 page 2: "A letter directed to the late under Gaoler of the New Prison (Simpson) has been received from Botany Bay. from a woman named Jane Maher, who was transported from hence, about six years ago. The subject of it is a request for an enquiry to be made after a male child she left in Dublin behind her, stating that having by her industry in the baking business acquired a property she is enable to provide for the child and wishes to have it educated, and brought up in a decent manner, and for which she will remit money. "

Ann was a madam or a keeper of a brothel in Dublin. She was convicted of stealing money from a patron of the brothel. In the Colony, she formed a liaison with Edward Turleigh Smith (Convict, Marquis Cornwallis, 1796) They had two daughters, Keziah 1798 and Jemima 1801.
