Cork Assizes. John Mahony was indicted for stealing on the 12th of Sept. last, at Knocknadrum, near Charleville, two pigs, the properly of Edmond Sullivan. The prosecutor got his pigs at Fermoy, two days after, from a Serjeant of Police, who arrested the prisoner as he was selling them.------ Guilty. Cork Constitution, 3 April 1828.

The Australian Convict Indentures states that John Malony was 41 years old. He was single and could read and write; religion Roman Catholic and was a school master. He was a native of Cork. He was convicted of pig stealing at Cork on 29 March 1828. He was sentenced to 7 years and had no prior convictions. Height 5 feet 5 inches; complexion dark ruddy; hair black to grey and eyes dark brown. Transport number 115. Assigned to: Not noted.
